People Expected To Spend Less For Easter

(Undated)This year, folks are expected to spend less on Easter celebrations. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), the total spending for Easter is predicted to be around $22.4 billion. This is a 7% drop from last year's record-setting mark of $24 billion.

The NRF's survey also found that nearly seven out of ten people are planning to spend less for Easter this year. On average, people celebrating the holiday are expected to spend about $177.06 per person. This money will be spent on popular items like candy, food, gifts, and clothing.

Despite the overall decrease, this year's spending is still the second-highest in the history of the NRF and Prosper Insights & Analytics’ Easter survey.

As for what people are buying, food is expected to be the highest spending category, followed by clothing and then gifts. However, spending on Easter candy is predicted to drop to $3.1 billion this year.

One possible reason for the decrease in spending could be the early arrival of Easter this year, which falls on March 31. The timing of the holiday can influence what consumers shop for, and the weather can also play a significant role.

Regardless of spending, the joy of Easter traditions, like egg hunts and holiday meals, will continue to bring families together in celebration.
